The great vanity project continues. I wonder just who is making money out of this?

A stretch of the M42's going to be closed over Christmas & New Year for a ridge for HS2: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-63988607

Yet they still run with the vanity. Be a lot better to cancel it now and forget it.

Those that were going to make money from this folly have already done it. Cancelling now won't worry them.

The Brum-Manchester section's been scrapped completley, and the money put towards trans-pennine routes: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12592741/Rishi-Sunak-Tory-conference-speech-HS2-tax-election.htmlAnother £36 billion to be wasted, then.

I think it's worse than wasted. A fast link between Birmingham and London isn't worth having and wasn't needed. Heads should roll, but they won't. The select few have lined their pockets very well!

Money from the scrapped part of HS2 is being reallocated to other projects. I'm not entirely sure it'll be used effectively. The funding, which will be available between 2025 and 2032, can be used for projects including refurbishing bus and rail stations, filling in potholes, better street lighting, building new roads and improving junctions.https://stratfordobserver.co.uk/news/1-2billion-reallocated-hs2-funding-set-to-transform-regions-transport-links-48563/

Apparently, it can't be used in big cities/towns. So that's Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton etc. out of the running!

Repainting stations won't make the trains and buses run on time.
