They seem to use German steel for a lot of their stuff, and is really good quality.

Their main shop is in Chipping Campden; it'll be worth having a day out to have a look around. (There're several good pubs & cafes there, plus a design museum and interesting shops).

I use Stella brand SS and have had it for years. It wasn't cheap but has lasted well. IIRC, I bought it from Debenhams?

Like Rebook I have always used Stellar pots and pans, but I think there is different quality SS. on different makes.
I wish it had it stamped on the bottom of the pot.

What you need to know is that stainless steel isn't immune to rusting, it depends on the composition and quality. As an apprentice in the early 70s, I learned that people automatically misunderstood the term 'stainless'. I still have screwdrivers that I made at the time that haven't rusted, others haven't lasted so well.

I've ordered myself some charcoal from UK sourced wood for a Bank Holiday barbecue. Apparently, it burns hotter & longer than imported stuff, and I don't have to feel guilty about being responsible for a bit of jungle being hacked down.

How do we know if it is the higher food grade strength such as 316, contains a small percentage of molybdenum as mentioned in the article ? That is what I am after. this grade is better resistant to corrosion.

Finally we got the food caddies delivered from the Council. or is it Dusty Bin 123+
The little caddy is ridiculous and instead I am using an ordinary small pedal bin to dispose of food, Just tie up the bag and put it in the larger green caddy which I keep in the shed till the day of collection. It is all really a silly idea having separate caddies instead of just wrapping up food and veg waste and putting I the garden waste.
God knows how folks manage with small back yards with all these bins!

Most peope round my area haven't got one yet, and those who do have one don't seem to be using them. I won't be using mine if/when I get one - all my kitchen waste goes in my compost bin.

All in all, they seem to be another waste of money, just so councils can tick another 'green' box. I wonder how much plastic will be chucked into landfill as a result of this......

Yes, that's what I was thinking, such an unnecessary amount of plastic no need for all those extra bins. I use the biodegradable bags for food though.
But all this could have been so much avoided if we were still allowed to wrap up our food spoils , bones etc.. in Newspaper and put it in the garden waste bin, as was previously allowed.
Why change a perfectly workable system?

I noticed a little 'weather' after midnight. But I am honestly sick and tired of the nannying that is going on.

We do seem to wrapped in cotton wool more nowadays.

It's the last day of September, and I'm already fed up of the Christmas adverts on TV!

My TV doesn't get turned on very much these days, Lex. My hifi system receives a lot of use though. I really don't miss the TV.
