You have my sympathies, Margaret.
We are fighting off both commercial and housing developments. Our fight is compounded by the fact that the developments straddle the city borders, and trying to watch what goes on in different planning areas is time consuming. - Of course, both planning authorities are working together against the objectors. Ultimately, we know we'll lose, but we hope to reduce the size of the developments to at least manageable.

My understanding is that the industrial units will be removed and the whole site will be rebuilt as residential. BUT, O'Boyle is involved, so it's anyone's guess.

I foresee rather a lot of surplus student accommodation in the coming years. We've now established that education can be delivered online, why would students want the extra cost of leaving home? (OK, I can see a few reasons, for the well-heeled, but nothing to justify the extra on student loans for the rest.)

Environmental concerns seem to be forgotten when there's economic concerns or the council/councillors/political parties stand to benefit from the deal.
