The words '[not] connected to any ongoing investigation at this point' worry me a little.

Most of the area around there is (IIRC) concrete or tarmac; but there were a few areas of wasteland.
My friend had the very end unit near where they're excavating! I think there's a Triumph classic car repair unit there these days.
Looks like they've not found anything anyway.
