I'm quite sure these things go on all the time, in the most surprising places.We have to be vigilant.Every week there is something dreadful found out.
In the 1950s, which is not that long ago. I was a cadet nurse and worked for 6 weeks at a children's home in Leamington, and saw great cruelty there-a lot of it psychological. Some children were blind or partially, and some poor things had mental issues.
I was very young, and told my mum about some of the things, and, as a typical teenager wanting to change the world, said I was going to report what was going on.She warned me -no-one would listen and if they did,who would believe me.
And of course she was right. Even now whistle blowers aren't the favourites and often come off the worse for being so.
