European court rejects Geoff Hoon's human rights complaint BBC Quote: He later apologised, saying he had "certainly got it wrong" Meaning, "Oh sh*t, I got caught!" |

My thinking about ECHR for a while has been that the media has only highlighted controversial cases - such as Geoff Hoon and criminals evading extradition on Right to a Family Life grounds - because slating it sells papers & bumps viewing figures up. I've only had a brief look at a couple of cases, but how come the Daily Mail & the BBC have never mentioned the case relating to Russians being detained for unclear reasons? http://www.echr.coe.int/Pages/home.aspx?p=home |

Ah the delights of the UK media. They toe the line and are largely left alone. If you want the 'truth' (or at least a balanced view) far better to view the foreign media, especially Arab and Russian. - That in itself says something! |

I watch Al Jazeera English occasionally, and the channel does some damn good reporting on what's going on in the world (as long as they don't criticize the Qatari government too much) |
