As usual, Lex, the local tax payer will be bailing out those that lacked the leadership and knowledge that went with their elevated positions.

Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.
And quite probably the taxpayer's kids as well.
Students are terrified by rising infection rates, despite the fact it's mostly their bl**dy fault: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...shire-54643662
Ironic isn't it?
Seriously, why bring students back so soon? Why not use online facilities for a couple of terms and see how this covid lark pans out? - I'll tell you why: MONEY!

We can't have the little darlings experiencing any hardship, can we.
Great. We all have to quarantine ourselves because 2% of the f*****g population have come down with a variation of the f*****f flu virus: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-54763956
Galling isn't it?
I might be a bit more sympathetic if educational establishments had been closed down, but leaving them open is just going to let the virus get a stronger grip; then (if) lockdown ends and everyone rushes out we have a stronger virus to fend off!
I really can't say I'm impressed.

I was in a pub with some friends when it was announced, and their reaction was 'right, we're going out every night until Wednesday'.
I also know some business owners who were thinking about throwing the towel in before the announcement; this could well decide them.
I'll get my quota of beer in over the next few afternoons.
I see that little pipsqueak Gove has already added weight to my fears about it only lasting 4 weeks.
The landlady of my local (she has 4 venues) has already told me that she doesn't know how she's going to go on, or if she wants to. She was telling me that on the local alone, she owes the pubco over £23000 in back rent. It's as she says, during lockdown, rents weren't cancelled but deferred. I suspect that many places (not just pubs) will close their doors on Wednesday for the last time.

£2m overspend on mental health issues by WCC; a sign of how badly the whole situation is affecting people: https://www.leamingtoncourier.co.uk/...ouncil-3034712
And just to add insult to injury, Sunak refuses to rule out another EOTHO after lockdown 2 ends. Remember, that despite evidence to the contrary, EOTHO has largely been blamed for the early escalation in cases after lockdown 1 ended. Bl**dy hypocrisy.

A huge testing centre's to be set up in Leamington: https://www.leamingtoncourier.co.uk/...idents-3037101
It's been a while since I've been over that way but I seem to remember it being rather traffic heavy. An 2000 extra workers? That might be interesting.

I used to spend a lot of time sitting in traffic jams in that area, and that was 20-odd years ago. I can't imagine it's got any better.
The BCC is calling for clarity on post-lockdown rules; they'll be lucky to get anything near that: https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/ne...unity-19305391
BBC2 are doing a programme at 9:00 tonight on 'following the science'. I think it might be worth a watch.
