Hi all,
I was wondering what everyone's favourite restaurant in Stratford is? I'm currently enjoying Chutneys, which do some amazingly good Indian food. I'm always up for new tastes though, anyone else have a personal favourite?

I love Indian Food! Where's Chutneys though? I haven't heard of that one. I go to Lambs on Sheep Street sometimes, it's a bit hit and miss though, it's either excellent of very average.
I have a friend who is a chef at Lambs, most the time anyway. They get moved around between Lambs, The Oppo, and now the Vintner. All owned by the same person I believe.
I'm sure he'd be interested in the feedback.
Now that Lambs owns the Vintner why is the food (basically the same) more expensive in the Vintner? Is it something to do with the black clad waitresses in the Vintner... ?
That could well be the case, lol. I used to go to the Vintner every lunchtime, until they got rid of the cinema seats surrounding that large Oak table. It was really socialble back then, it's lost its appeal since. All because they wanted to make the bar a bit bigger!
Try the thai restaurant on the other side of the river- ive forgotten what its called but its excellent ! ( its the one above where all the boats are )ive only been once but id go again- just got to find someone to take with me !
I agree that lambs can be a bit hit and miss, ive been a handfull of times, and sometimes it has been excellent ad others a bit run of the mill,
Ive heard that marlowes (i think thats what its called ) is very good. Its oppersite the hi fi shop up on the second floor-
you can tell im a local. I dont know any of the street names !
I like Jimmy Spice
Another REALLY GOOD restaurant is the Baraset Barn, a couple of miles out of Stratford on the way to Wellesbourne. The food and service are both fantastic, and you always get a warm welcome there.
I had my eye on that restaurant when I stayed for a week at the youth hostel on the left side of that main road, in October last year,(there was a reason) in case the food at the hostel was awful. But luckily didn't need it. The dining room and food at the hostel was excellent.
On the other hand, The Ferry in Alveston is a bit of a disappointment. The landlord seems to be a miserable little so-and-so who doesn't seem to be familiar with the concept of customer service (service with a sneer!)
