Y'know, Lex, I've used Wetherspoons a few times and I've never seen trouble. I've often seen customers the worse for wear, but never any trouble. I wonder what was behind this outburst?
Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.
Maybe I'm just biased by a bit of snobbery! In the few I've been to, I've always felt a bit uncomfortable & felt the need to keep looking over my shoulder.
I have to admit, I admire Tim Martin and what he's achieved.
I sat having a pint earlier with a mate, and he said, "Do you realise that two pints in here cost £7.20, yet we could have them for less than £3.00 in 'Spoons?"
Makes you think, doesn't it?
Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.
I don't go into the local Benjamin Satchwell pub, it never looks very inviting, a bit scrubby, but the Thomas Lloyd in Warwick is very nice I quite like it there, when we visit, the staff are really friendly and. helpful.
The Tilted Wig is nice for food also.

“I doubt sometimes whether a quiet and unagitated life would have suited me - yet I sometimes long for it.”
- Lord Byron.
I don't honestly think you can beat Wetherspoons in the value for food stakes.
Did you know that Tim Martin regularly visits all of his pubs and chats with customers? He seems to understand that he needs to meet his customers' needs, and, unlike many who claim the customer is king, he takes notice of what is said.
Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.
