She was only 28 when she was hung, such a tragic and complicated life, you can't help feel compassion for her.
It was a powerful depiction of explosive passions and the the tragic consequences it led to. It was also a brilliant sepia tinged memoir of British social life in the 1950's, a world that is now almost impossibly distant like some vanishing galaxy.
Ruth Ellis herself was clearly a very complex and emotionally insecure, I would imagine a bit like Marilyn Monroe, but, - and I don't think this can be avoided - she was also a dangerous individual.

It was all before my time, but I do remember seeing a film about her.
