It's that time of year when we think of those who have died in conflict: http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/story-behind-the-poppy/?utm_expid=51730890-8.uyvGf4ptR7ufZQ3FXIVT0g.0&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.co.uk%2F

Seems very quiet this year Lex. I've heard very little of any services or parades.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

I found this article really disturbing; what Coventry went through was even more hellish than I ever imagined: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-34746691

It was certainly horrific. I've been in the crypts under the cathedral and the thought of being there whilst the bombs were falling brought me out in a cold sweat. Fortunately (if you can really call it that) the number of casualties were relatively few.

Unfortunately, many today don't really understand what war is: it is brutal and people are hurt, maimed and die.

Armed forces on all sides were brave and were doing what they did because of the failure of the politicians. Please God, it must never happen again.

A service is taking place in Kenilworth this Saturday, to remember the victims of an explosion at the Glebe Hotel: http://www.warwickcourier.co.uk/news/local-news/anniversary-of-kenilworth-landmine-explosion-to-be-marked-1-7073707
