Re: Labour not trusted on the economy...
Unfortunately, that is the perception nowadays with race, gender & identity nowadays - everything that's wrong with the world is the personal fault of WHMs (White Hetrosexual Males - we deserve an acronym too!).

Sadly, the frustration has now spilt over into violence - which is our fault, according to the ideologists. If we are all actually seen to be treated equally, with one group not being put another (any spot the irony?), maybe this situation wouldn't be as bad.

We seriously need reform in this area. However, Labour won't carry it out as most of their voter base claims one or more benefits.

Benefits should not be a lifestyle choice, and those who have not contributed should not be able to claim under any circumstances. We are far too soft as a country.

I was between jobs and I requested my NI stamp be paid for two months. - It was refused, as a result my State pension is slightly lower than it should be. But of course, I'm a white, working class, heterosexual, male!

I don't buy it about the NHS, Lex. If we stopped immigration and all the hangers on that they bring, we wouldn't need so many staff. We should also stop trying to be a world health service. I also think it wrong to poach NHS staff from developing countries when we should be training our own.

I see that our excremental, numerically challenged Chancellor, has opened the door to tax rises for defence rather than cut her outrageous spending.

Yes, the benefits bill is definitely a problem - for a lot of people, the welfare state is so generous, it's just not worth working.

Immigration's a bit more complex. For a start, the NHS would be in an even worse state if we didn't bring people in from abroad (let alone agricultural workers, hospitality staff etc.). The issue seems to come from those who come to the UK to abuse the system - claim asylum on false pretenses to get free handouts. If we had an immigration system that actually worked, and wasn't plagued by do-gooders, it wouldn't be such a problem.

Immigration is at the root of most of today's ills. We must stop the ridiculous overspend on benefits for those who haven't put anything into the pot.

The Chancellor's cut VAT on family activities over the summer. https://www.dailymail.com/news/article- ... -help.html

It hardly seems worth the effort, and Rachel from Accounts is paying for it by putting tax up on oil & gas companies, which will end up being added to our bills.

The 5p discount on fuel duty is being kept for the time being. Small mercies, and all that: https://stratfordobserver.co.uk/news/re ... ews-61683/

I'm sure Rachel from Accounts will make the shortfall up with the increased VAT income on the current fuel prices.
