I suppose there is now the food bank they can go to if they are very hungry, though it is unlikely you will find a nice casserole steak there!

:D

I don't condone theft, but..........
If I seen a poor guy or woman nick some food from a store I wouldn't say anything, because I know the waste the supermarkets throw away. About 1/3 of all food is wasted, so people have the most ungrateful attitude to world and what we produce.
I did witness a homeless man help himself to some fruit from a fruit stall in town, I thought well , why say anything. I would not try it myself though.

I was very much taken with a comment once by the late professor Minogue, who said that we are told at school that if we do something wrong , what would happen if everyone was doing it. But the point he made was that of course not everyone is doing it, so we are entitled reasonably to think other people will act reasonably.

Sanctioned man who stole to eat is jailed
Quote:
A MAN who stole to eat after his benefits were stopped has been jailed.

Ian Mulholland admitted stealing three packets of casserole steak from Sainsbury's when he appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court .

Even to my way of thinking, this does seem a touch harsh.
