The form mentions the grid reference but most people dont know how to find it, so it helps if they know the exact spot. "In one of those fields " or "somewhere along that track" is not what is called very helpful to archaeological records. I do think it an excellent idea but it needs to be made clearer to the layman.

Staff at Museum Field Services are urging members of the public to use a new online form to report any archaeological findings.

Staff are keen to learn about any recent archaeological discoveries made in the county. They would also like to hear from anybody who has been carrying out historical research, or conducting archaeological fieldwork.

A free online form has been set up, where members of the public can report their finds. It is easy to complete and will help the specialists at Warwickshire County Council to further understand the archaeology and history of the area.

The form can be found on the new look Historic Environment Record website at [url=http://timetrail.warwickshire.gov.uk/][u][color=#0000ff]http://timetrail.warwickshire.gov.uk[/color][/u][/url]. It has been created as part of the archaeological outreach project Extracting Warwickshire’s Past. The project is supported by the English Heritage Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (ALSF).

Christina Evans, Archaeological Project Manager said: ‘’We are keen to hear from anyone with any information that would help us, and this online form is a great way for people to report, and gain acknowledgement, for their findings.’’

The only place I know of is Stratford Golf Course, which has some Roman ruins on it, they were dug up a long time ago then burried again. Might be worth another look, assuming it doesn't mean digging up the 18th Hole is something like that. :)
