Whilst I don't know the details of the incident referred to, I will say that my experience of cyclists on the canal towpath has not been good. The outcome of the incident is regrettable, but I really don't think one incident is sufficient for a draconian decree to remove a very popular seating area. Looks like common sense may prevail.
