Yes, and when they do, some bozo will come along and want to rip them up.

CCC have ripped up plenty of mature trees for no reason other than they no longer want to maintain them. They remove them, then plant saplings that require no looking after for a few years.

Hopefully. It'll be a long time before they mature into ancient woodland, though
