cathidaw, you are so down to earth! I am the eldest of 2 girls and for the life of me I had no chance of competing with my clever little sister who was Miss Clever Clogs in sports and in general school work.
My biggest hates were boring homework, having to run around the football field twice before starting physical education classes - the penalty for being caught slowing down was another lap of the football field and mathematics. But, to be honest, I can't say that the adage about school days being the best days of your life holds true for me. I would argue that like arguing the print off paper. As for Miss Clever Clogs, we get along just fine as adults, but then, no comparisons by parents at family dinners are being made with the school reports read out to Aunts, Uncles, cousins etc either. ![]()

Here's your man who sculpted it , Oliver Barratt , and the rest of his wierd 'modern' ideas . The one we are having is called, 'Spring'. No one I have met likes it, and is totally unsuited to the area it has been erected right next to a lovely old 19th century church. ![]() See these links public art commission projects and private commissions : oliver barratt : sculpture : public projects public art commission projects and private commissions : oliver barratt : sculpture : public projects Last edited by Mari : 08-03-2008 at 02:31 PM. |

I have nothing to add to the thread, but this is one of the most interesting topics running on WOL - keep it up.

My garden must be quite 'arty'
I have only this week unearthed a very large hook-a bit rusted but solid-which my children brought home, scavenged from the 'beach' at Eilean Donan Castle , Scotland in 1970. It is about a foot square and 3 inches thick. Why? I dont know but we also brought back a massive old steel frying pan and an enormous -Father Time like- scythe, both of which must be around somewhere buried in the garden. I must search more -I want to be famous! Last edited by cathidaw : 18-03-2008 at 05:15 PM. Reason: spelling |
