Wow I'm impressed that you read it all. I don't think I've ever read a wikipedia page in it's entirety - apart from the very short ones. There's something about reading from a screen, I've never been able to put my finger on it but I just don't seem to have the same attention span as when reading from paper. It could just be the signal/noise ratio on the internet is a lot lower, so I've just got accustomed to skimming through everything to find the bit I'm interested in.
Hmm, I think I just added to the noise. Sorry about that ![]() Ahh I'm thinking now it may have been Authur C Clark that first came up with the idea of the space elevator, so not far off with H G Wells. I'm pretty sure he (Authur that is) was the first person to sugest that satellites could be put into geostationary orbit - so you can thank him for satellite TV among other things. Where are you studying music then?

Yes, it was Arthur C.Clarke that suggested that. In 2001 - thats already history! - he showed space stations turning cartwheels, a good film, which is pretty much held its own, I loved the bit at the end when he goes on the journey through time and ends up in a room when he looks around and sees a baby, and then looks again and that baby is a planet or a star in the universe, it was all about creation and the cosmos. You can actually track satellites in the sky, as I see one quite clearly , early hours of the morning. BTW; I am taking music lessons locally, private tuition. All this satellite stuff is a bit above my head Cheers. Last edited by Mari : 19-02-2008 at 06:52 PM. |

The only niggle I would have is the scene where 'dave' enters through the airlock without a helmet - but I let it pass.Quote:
