Default Looking for an affordable house in Stratford!

HI everyone,

I'm looking to find a bargain in Stratford Upon Avon, it's such a nice town but it isn't cheap. I'd love a proper 'fixer upper', are then any such buildings left in Stratford?

Default Finding a cheap property to do up

As a local estate agent, I can speak from experience that to find a property to do up is a very hard thing to find. After about seven years in the bussiness, I have just bought such a place. The problem is that most of the property developers jump on them straight away. The average man or woman in the street cant see the potential or dont want the hard work, if indeed they can find them at all.

Oh well, that's that idea then.

What about Birmingham? I see loads of boarded up old buildings round there, some of them look very nice (or would do with some serious work).

Nah. The word affordable anhd Stratford don't go together. The word affordable and "nice place" don't go together.

The only cheap place in Warwickshire/Coventry are the less desirable parts of Coventry and Bedworth/Nuneaton and prob Rugby. From South Coventry downwards prices seem to spiral.

Even for a run down two bed property in Earlsdon, say, you're looking at over 150K.

If there are boarded up houses in area, it's probably an indication that it's best left alone!

Brum has enough empty houses for 30,000 people - although the city's population has been falling quite dramatically over the years.

That's pretty incredible that there's that much free space in Birmingham, and yet I can't find anywhere affordable as a single person on a small wage. What's the reason for the fall in population in Birmingham? A lot of people are moving into the constant stream of new houses popping up all round Stratford, are people just moving to small towns like this?

Most cities have been decreasing in population over the years.

Yes. Since the 1970s, the population of Coventry dropped, but the population of the "region" actually went up. City's tend to have desirable areas that are expensive, and people don't want to live in the dodgy areas - so they move out of town to commuter belt areas.

It seems to have accelerated recently, the amount of new houses in Stratford (as everyone has been saying), has been unprecedented recently.

Isn't Ryton expensive? Cheylesmore's about average 130K or thereabouts for a terrace.

I should point out that the last two posts have identical IP addresses, so quite obviously it's the same person. Would you trust a company that deliberately misleads you? I wouldn't!

The other dead giveaway was the style that both posts were typed.
