I agree with you but regardless of what 'they' feel we need, many theatre goers opt for the Great British Tradition instead of a chic restaurant. I guess it's more convenient for those last minute bookings and people in a hurry and those eating alone. It surprised me too when I took on the place just over a year ago! Enjoying fish and chips in the sunshine on the Bancroft has become somewhat of a tradition and if the opportunity presents itself indeed it would be great to refurbish the premises to a much higher standard and not feel like an eyesore as I do, I agree it needs it and I would love to do it. Its a frustrating situation. Earlier this year I put a tender in to the council for a brand new fish and chip restaurant at the Island Cafe location. My detailed 10 page proposal was turned down, However Ive recently heard local gossip saying that the person who was accepted is proposing putting guess what there?!!! naturally I'm smelling something 'fishy' and did some checking on the surname... low and behold, same surname has connections with the Snitterfield Parish Council. This could all be coincidental and maybe the rumours about the cafes outcome are just assumptions. It's strange that the local press have suddenly stopped reporting about the Cafe. Why is it all so secretive? This reminds me of a tender I was involved in regarding the Timber Yard called Coxes Yard many years ago. Our tender that was rejected proposed a micro brewery and look what ended up there... a micro brewery! again this could be coincidental but at the time it seemed very odd. Maybe they invite tenders purely for inspiration. Am I allowed to express these views and suggestions? I don't know. My views are based on personal experience plus local gossip. The reader can interpret it as they wish.
