2 big retailers mothballing their shops doesn't bode well for Stratford: https://www.stratford-herald.com/new...nches-9155066/

We're going to see a lot of this. Lockdown is a bad strategy (for many reasons) and financial chickens are about to come home to roost.

Shop owners in my area seem to be giving up in droves - 5-6 premises have emptied over the last 10 months, and the lockdown probably won't be over for another 4. The whole shambles has really screwed the economy.

If you look at it without emotion, (OK, a bit difficult) we have destroyed our economy for the sake of about 100,000 lives (if you believe the figures) many who were already very close to the end of their natural lives.

How history records this will be interesting.

Yeah - not quite 2% of the population.

I make it around 1.4%, Lex. 100,000 deaths population 70,000,000.

The UK generally loses around 600,000 souls per year but that has been declining as the population ages slightly. Hence a ready-made group ripe for covid to hit.

Of course, there are unknowns and we really can't do a particularly accurate 'what if' analysis but ...

However, when you look at it in these terms it really isn't anything like the panic we're having thrown at us.

Surprise, surprise we have a backtrack...

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain will not introduce COVID-19 vaccine passports, but people will be able to seek proof from their doctor if needed for travel to other countries, vaccine deployment minister Nadhim Zahawi said on Sunday.

“We are certainly not looking to introduce it as part of the vaccine deployment programme,” Zahawi told Sky News.

Stratford-upon-Avon has the lowest Covid-19 rate in the whole of the West Midlands.

The south Warwickshire town currently has the lowest infection rate in the entire region.

That is according to a seven day rolling rate league table on the Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull dashboard, which lists the rates per 100,000 population for the seven days ending February 16.

It shows that Stratford-on-Avon has the lowest rate out of all 30 regions.

As of the seven days leading up to February 16, it stood at 66.87 per 100,000 people.

Thankfully, the vaccination programme's going well, so we'll hopefully be able to get back to normal that bit sooner.

Are we seeing the effects of the vaccine, or are we seeing the normal seasonal adjustment of a coronavirus?

Those who are meant to know don't seem to have a clue, so we've got no f****** chance of knowing what's going on!
