This doesn't bode well for the Tier decision tomorrow: https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/ne...ising-19459167

Bozo is like Canute trying to hold back the sea!

This is going to run and run. We need to learn to live with it, not hide away from it.
Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.

Even if he were to drop us to tier 2, effective from tomorrow, it would take days to get the hospitality sector re-stocked. Then they're likely to be told to close after Christmas because there is another rise in cases, so they end up pouring yet more stock away.

I bumped into the landlady of my local the other day; she won't bother opening over Christmas - she'll probably end up having to throw yet more beer away afterwards, and no-one wants to fork out on a 'substantial meal' if they fancy a couple of social pints.

No difference for us, then? Hancock is about as popular as a bacon sandwich at a Mosque. I see the WM Mayor is protesting. - Nothing will change though.

I sincerely hope that the government are going to offer a decent compensation package to the hospitality sector?

Hancock - another Bond villain. Just needs the white cat. Spectre, the new force in British politics.

London's suddenly moved up to Tier 3 now Parliament is about to break up for Christmas.

    How surprising, Lex. Cynical, moi?

Well, all those MPs and Lords won't need to make use of London eateries until the middle of January now. I hope sorting their expenses claims out won't take too much time.

    Warwickshire's avoided Tier 4, at least that's something https://www.rugbyadvertiser.co.uk/ne...ng-day-3077650

I notice the press have picked up on Sunak doing a quick getaway to Yorkshire before the tier 4 travel ban was enforced.

Whilst he may have done nothing legally wrong, it hardly sets the right example. He was one of the few that I had any time for.

As we've seen, the rules & setting a good example don't apply to MPs.

Anyone else noticed the BBC now emphasising 'tested positive within the last 28 days' when referring to the daily death rate?

Oh well, Happy New Year, good health and make the most of it. I'll drink to WOL.

My son will be working New Years Eve. Then will come and see us.
I doubt sometimes whether a quiet and unagitated life would have suited me - yet I sometimes long for it.
