    Angry Convicted Paedo Rector

A DISGRACED south Warwickshire rector who downloaded pictures and movie clips of children has been jailed.

Christopher Goble, who was Rector at The Church of St Mary in Ilmington, had already pleaded guilty at Warwick Crown Court to three charges of making indecent images of children.

But when he returned to the court to be sentenced for those pictures on his phone, the court heard that more images had been discovered on other devices.

The disgraced cleric then pleaded guilty to three amended charges detailing larger numbers of images and to two further charges of possessing extreme pornography and prohibited images.

Goble (44) of The Rectory, Valenders Lane, Ilmington, at the time, but recently living at The Brambles, Oswestry, was jailed for 20 months and ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years.

Ye Gods, how can people abuse their positions of trust like that?

The Stratford forum seems fine, Margaret, as Ilmington's in the Stratford area

    Sadly, all too common.

My school days (c1970) were rife with this sort of thing. One teacher was eventually caught, but far worse perpetrators have gotten away scott free. In fact, the worst abuser actually wrote a paper about the horrifics of child abuse and appeared in court as an expert witness!

We live in a very sick world.
Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.

Lex, I have a suspicion these sickos know they can get 'trusted' access to kids if they become a pastor, Rector. Same with some priests in the Catholic Church. But to be fair not all of them, it is sad that such depraved abuse has pretty well ruined the Church and ruined the reputation of good priests or Vicars.
I am in favour of administering a lethal injection to those who harm children in such a way.

I think the Internet has made access to kids even worse.

I would agree. When I first started using the internet I was bombarded with adverts for distasteful things. Thankfully, a lot of that seems to have disappeared (not sure if it's because I've changed a lot of settings and now use blockers).

But Paedo's are generally very crafty and will play the long game. From my knowledge, they rarely act totally alone but have a network of like-minded 'friends'.

I often worry (I know I shouldn't stereotype) about male teachers, scoutmasters, etc.. I judge by my own first-hand experiences, and don't think I'm really that unique.

Yes, the internet does have its seedy side, unfortunately. I'm not sure if they have to pay to go on p o r n or the dark net as they call it, and why can't authorities close them down.

Porn is readily and freely available, all genres!

The UK was talking about introducing controls for accessing it, but the plans fell through when they realised that it was not only complex, but also the wider public was against it as they saw it as censorship.

The 'dark' web is also easily and freely available, you just need to download the right browser. - But don't believe all you read about it, much is nothing more than dealing in illegal substances. But you can (allegedly) hire hitmen to bump off your spouse... Though how you would guarantee the contract being honoured is a bit moot.
