Thank you Rebbonk, I though it might be best to start a new thread for Math problems and go from here.

Thanks Rebbonk, it my son really. He is preparing to Maths funcional skills City & Guilds.
Here are two examples where he has got a bit stuck.
Last edited by margaret; 31-07-2019 at 04:05 PM.
Q7 he needs 7/35ths of a litre which equals 0.2l: which just happens to be 200ml
Q8 [(Selling price-cost price)/cost price]*100
[(3.90-2.60)/2.60]*100...... [1.30/2.60]*100........ =50%
I hope this makes some sort of sense Margaret?
Edit to correct my misread figures
Q8 could also be calculated by (profit/cost price)*100.... (1.30/2.60)*100 = 50%

Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.
Thank you Kindly, Rebbonk I'll get him to have a look at it, when he gets home. He will get round to join the forum.

He needs a total of 20 1/2 hour blocks for each job, I assume that breaks/lunch are not fixed.

That's how I'd work it, assuming I've understood the question properly
