A favourite comedy duo of mine.
I saw them at Coventry Theatre with my mum-cant remember when. She got their signatures on a programme but It all went when she died.
Where do you start? I loved the old silent screen comedies, but if pushed I reckon I'd go for Hale and Pace, or the not the 9 o'clock news team.
As I understand it, when Laurel and Hardy came over to the UK, after the war they were mobbed by tens of thousands of fans and the country had never seen anything like it. Stan Laurel had not been back to England since before the first world war when he left to go to America, when they went to his birthplace in Cumbria huge crowds greeted them. They were truly beloved of the nation.
This is my favourite Jasper Carrott sketch:
I was not really a fan of Jasper Carrot in his popular period, but I have since come to like his observations on life.
Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.
I've got a double CD of one of his more recent shows - it always has me in hysterics.
