I'm a big fan of mentoring, and I know it works.

Looking at this scheme I'm not sure it's mentoring in the true spirit. There is nothing wrong with 'dis-engaging' from education as long as you fully understand the implications and have other viable plans. I fear that this scheme will turn out to be little more than pushing for staying with the education system.
