They know the price of everything, but the value of nothing!
Tacky isn't the word I'd use, but I do think it's in extremely poor taste and indicates the direction that Stratford is likely to take in future years.
SDC has ok'd the wheel in principle, all any operator will need is planning permission (which the council will just wave through,as it's their idea): http://stratfordobserver.co.uk/news/...tratford-avon/
Right, where's my 'Kiss Me Quick' hat.....
The wheel's looking more likely, despite a lot of people actually opposing it: http://stratfordobserver.co.uk/news/...eel-stratford/
Since when to councils listen to the people? - Someone getting a 'bung'?
Quite possibly; someone on the council's likely to make money from it.
Permanent planning permission for the Ferris Wheel will just be waved through, as it'll be a nice little earner for the council: https://stratfordobserver.co.uk/news...ratford-wheel/
Another great idea to bring chaos to Stratford: https://stratfordobserver.co.uk/news...s-and-traffic/
It's been a while since I've been to Stratford but the island in the picture was always a nightmare for pedestrians, and I'm surprised that there weren't more accidents, especially with all the tourists.
I'm really not sure what could realistically be done. Pedestrianise the 'centre' apart from out of hours deliveries?
Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.
The problem with Bridge Street is that it's one of the main thoroughfares through Stratford. Every time it's closed, traffic comes to a complete halt as extra traffic is diverted to Brum Road (which is permanently clogged up anyway) or Shipston & Seven Meadows Road (which isn't much better during rush hour.
The idea of building a 'Stratford Ring Road' occasionally raises its head, but is quickly shouted down, because people don't want a new road built through their nice quiet suburb/village (usually the same people who complain about the amount of traffic in Stratford!)
It gets worse: https://stratfordobserver.co.uk/news...for-stratford/
