Unfortunately, it's still empty. There were rumours about a major retailer opening on the site in September, but nothing ever materialised.

I miss BHS, we use to go up to the Cafe, have a bit of a meal and overlook the river and town, it was a lovely view.

Yes, it's a great location. It'll be a shame if the building falls into dereliction.

Many developers are having trouble shifting units/offices, but we're still building more. - Madness!
Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.

Yes, it is madness. The number of empty shops is slowly increasing in Stratford, and we don't need any more (although, the town could do with some different shops, not just chain stores).

Well, that's one of Bell Court's tenants potentially up the spout: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-42625716

I expect we'll see a lot of this during the coming months, especially as rent becomes due. Many enterprises have not had a good Christmas period, many are struggling day to day and it will all start to hit home shortly.

2018 won't (IMO) be a good year for many of the high street names.

It's looking even less like Byron will be coming to Stratford: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-42887786

The developer doesn't seem to be renting out units a quickly as hoped: http://www.stratford-herald.com/1029...ourt-home.html

The traditional High street model is all but dead in the water these days. It's good that the developer has seen a way forward but I wonder if the types of business they're trying to attract will be able to afford the rents being asked?

A burger is a burger, no matter how you serve it up. Some people have more money than sense

Festivals in doubt and questions over how town centre is run after Stratford BID manager Diane Mansell dramatically quits

Article only available to subscribers. So I can't read the article in full. Greedy Herald.
