Default Mobile phone interception being used in the UK

Sky News has found evidence that rogue mobile phone towers, which can listen in on people's calls without their knowledge, are being operated in the UK.

IMSI catchers, also known as Stingrays, mimic mobile phone masts and trick phones into logging on.

The controversial surveillance technology is used by police agencies worldwide to target the communications of criminals.

Whilst I think we all know that this goes on, I can't say I'm particularly comfortable about it.

Same here. I'm very uncomfortable about the government's 'snoopers' charter'; getting judges to sign warrants for surveillance is just a sop to the civil liberties campaigners, it's all about controlling the populace (and don't give me that 'if you've done nothing wrong, you've nothing to hide' malarkey)
