Surgeries closing is always bad news. In this case I believe there are a lot of patients left in limbo, so to speak.

My local surgery closed and merged with 2 others a few years back. The new practice built a big surgery that was fortunately not far from where I live. However, many of the patients that used the other two surgeries of the merger have to travel a distance of over 3 miles to the new surgery. Maybe not a problem when you're young and fit, but if you're knocking on a bit and unwell, not so good.

My belief is that it was all down to money, and not the improved service that was touted about at the time.

As an aside, my GP is about 70 years of age. What age ought he retire? Not that I have any problems with him, (I never see him) just being curious.
