    I think it's a case of the Emperor's new clothes. One city gets suckered and refuses to admit it and so the charade continues.

    That's a very old (and sarcastic) article written by Simon Gilbert who has since moved to the BBC. However, looking at recent violent crimes in Coventry and its' standing in an international safety table, I think the whole city of culture thing is becoming a big joke. To my mind, the only culture that Coventry has is the sort that grows in a petri dish.
