Having worked on the largest and most complicated Meccano kit in the world, I can't say I'm surprised.

Defender has been nursed along for many years now. I remember at one stage production was to be moved to Brazil in order to avoid restrictions. Thankfully, it didn't happen and Solihull continued production.

However, once the idiots in marketing decided that Defender ought compete against BMW X5, Defender was finished, it had lost its way.

Defender still has a large and loyal following, its demise will be missed in certain circles.

It's changed beyond all recognition. Forgetting its roots is something JLR will live to regret.
Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.

They're going down the same road as BMW did with Mini.

They certainly are, but they're also repeating many of the mistakes which brought about the demise of British Leyland. For an industry which talks so much about 'lessons learned' they don't seem to ever read those lessons from the past.
