Mrs R bought a giant pizza for tonight, and I've roasted a piece of lamb for tomorrow and Tuesday.

Well, it was such a nice day, the pub beckoned. So I rescheduled the Lamb for tomorrow and made a savoury mice and onion pie before I went out. Served up with mash and peas, that'll hit the spot.

Yes, the weather is exceptional today, beautiful sunny and warm. I'm having turkey and salad. Then strawberry yogurt , Just feels like summer!
I had some pastry left over from the pie, so made a few jam tarts. Mrs R doesn't like jam tarts (snicker!) Very nice they were too.

Second Lamb dinner tonight, sausage casserole tomorrow. Mrs R is doing tonight's meal, I'll do tomorrow it's easy and I'll likely be visiting the local hostelry during the afternoon.

Oops! The sausage casserole was not well received and it wasn't my fault! Mrs R, in her wisdom, had bought a casserole mix and insisted I use it. I did protest, telling her she wouldn't like it, but my words fell on deaf ears.
After an afternoon on the beer, I happily warmed the pre-cooked casserole through, whilst making mashed potatoes. I served it up and sat down to enjoy things. Before I had taken my first fork-full she demanded, "What have you put in this?" "Nothing my little piranha fish," I replied. "If you remember, you supplied the mix." The room went eerily quiet!
A few minutes later, "Freya (the dog) would you like this darling? Mummy isn't feeling hungry!" Dog had no qualms and wolfed the lot down.

On Monday I was fed up with cooking, so had a day off. I ate half a family strawberry trifle to cheer me up. And the rest for tea.
It worked.

mY SISTER'S DOG HEAVES AT THE SMELL OF DOG FOOD.
Both dog and cat are spoiled rotten. I swear they lead better lives than I do. Dog is currently leaning up against me on a settee as I type this, whilst cat is fast asleep on the bed. And since Mrs R has gone shopping all is peaceful in the house.
I'm knocking up a potato and onion pie for me tonight, Mrs R said she'd pick something up for herself whilst out.

Mrs R has just returned home. As I was unpacking for her I came across a bottle of whisky. Just as I was about to thank her she says, "Hands off that whisky, it's going upstairs for Christmas!" - What a let down.

Just enough time now before Christmas to make my fruit gin.Not sure what flavour yet.
Last year it was pineapple and lemon.
I may use frozen mixed berry fruits this year.Making it up a bit.
Also my vegetarian mincemeat.I use blocks of coconut cream instead of suet.I find vegetarian suet too greasy.
I shall separate some of the mix and add a small pinch of chilli powder.
I sometimes use it in fruit scones, the tiniest pinch.
