Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.
I guessed in the beginning that it would cost a trillion pounds and I still believe it will if it hasn't already.I'd love to see a breakdown of everything. We'd be shocked into a revolt.
I read somewhere that they-the so called experts derived much of their information from maps and measurements. Not dirtying their shoes by visiting sites to be demolished.
I've seen it happen often on fairly local sites where development has been scheduled to take place , where someone has requested a council member to 'come and have a real look at what's happening." All they were concerned about was the mud on their shiny shoes and car tyres. )
Never considering the ecology etc. and more importantly , disruption and displacement of peoples lives.
It only proves that none of us mean anything to governments.
Whole roads and villages -gone and what for?

More lip service to consultation; Solihull this time: https://solihullobserver.co.uk/news/...-hs2-roadshow/
Bit late for a 'consultation' now isn't it?
This is nothing more than a propaganda exercise to extol the 'virtues' of what is nothing more than a vanity project.
Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.
Some in government are starting to wonder whether the project's worth it.
Solihull council's getting fed up with HS": https://solihullobserver.co.uk/news/...demands-14380/
There was a piece on last night's News at Ten. HS2 are not exactly playing the game with businesses that are losing their sites.

The whole thing's now under review: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-49421605
No doubt the money saved will be used to upgrade existing lines between London/Birmingham/The North (HA!).
The money ought have been spent on upgrading what we already have.
HS2 is nothing more than an expensive vanity project that a very few will benefit from, but a few will make money from. The technology proposed is already out of date and shouldn't we look to using telecommunications rather than moving people around? Like far too many government ideas, it simply hasn't been thought through properly.

At least some of the tree have a (temporary) reprieve: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...ngham-49717954
Hopefully it will turn into a permanent reprieve.
And if it does, maybe we'll see the liars behind the project prosecuted? - I'll not be holding my breath though.

If it is dropped, we'll just be told how the country's saved £50-odd billion.
Possibly jumping the gun: https://solihullobserver.co.uk/news/...ss-road-15000/
If there was any real danger of things being scrapped I think all work would cease. I heavily suspect that someone 'knows something' and that the scheme may face a narrowing but won't be scrapped in its entirety or at all.
As I've said so many times, follow the money. A few people stand to make a lot of money from this unwanted vanity project.
Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.
I suppose this was inevitable: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-50388738
I'm sure the planned rail routes are already covered, I can't be certain.
I remember a few years ago, we took the train to Norwich, and we had two changes, the whole journey took 5 hours. I thought to myself, I have gone to Scotland in that time!
