There are many useful resources available on the internet. Some free and some with varying charging rates. I have made a cursory search for you to get you started. The first is with HOWARD WILLIAM WHITEHEAD.

My first suggestion is, that if you haven't already got it, get the marriage certificate for EDITH JACOB and HOWARD WILLIAM WHITEHEAD. If you don't have it the following will help you order it:

    June Quarter 1905
    Solihull, Warwickshire
    Volume: 6d
    Page: 1031

    Howard William Whitehead
    Edith Jacob

If you are not sure how to go about doing it online just send me a message and I will point you in the right direction.

The 1901 census shows Howard Whitehead boarding and not living with family:

Howard Whitehead, aged 20, born c1881, Knowle Warwickshire, living in Coventry, Butchers Assistant
    (A boarder.)

    Other household members:
    Ellen Rivett 67
    George P Cobb 31
    Joseph Caddick 31
    Howard Whitehead 20

The 1891 census shows Howard W Whitehead living with his parents and siblings:

    1891 Census
    Civil parish: Balsall
Ecclesiastical parish: Balsall St Mary Temple
    Town: Balsall
    County/Island: Warwickshire
    Country: England

John Whitehead, aged 35, born c1856, Balsall, Warwickshire - Head
Elizabeth Whitehead, aged 34, born c1857, West Bromwich, Staffordshire - Wife
Howard W Whitehead, aged 10, born c1881, Balsall, Warwickshire - Son
Leonard Whitehead, aged 5, born c1886, Balsall, Warwickshire - Son
Amos E Whitehead, aged 3, born c1888, Balsall, Warwickshire - Son

The 1871 census gives the impression that the father of John Whitehead may have died prior that time and John's mother, Ann remarried:

    1871 Census
    Civil parish: Hampton in Arden
    Town: Balsall
    County/Island: Warwickshire
    Country: England
    Registration district: Solihull
    Sub-registration district: Knowle

    Joseph Knight,aged 34, c 1837, Balsall, Warwickshire - Head
Ann Knight, aged 42, born C1829, Knowle, Warwickshire - Wife
John W Whitehead, aged 15, born c1856, Balsall, Warwickshire - Stepson
Ann Whitehead, aged 12, born 1859, Balsall, Warwickshire - Stepdaughter

    The 1871 census:

    1861 Census
    Civil parish: Hampton in Arden
    County/Island: Warwickshire
    Country: England
    Registration district: Solihull
    Sub-registration district: Knowle

William Whitehead, aged 32, born c1829, Berkswell, Warwickshire - Head
Ann Whitehead, aged 32, bornc 1829, Knowle, Warwickshire - Wife
John Whitehead, aged 5, born c1856, Balsall, Warwicksire - Son
Ann Whitehead, aged 2, born c1859, Balsall, Warwickshire, Daughter

If you haven't got this far yourself, then the above is probably enough to try and digest for the time being. In a nutshell:

William Whitehead, born c1829, Berkswell, Warwickshire and Ann Whitehead, born c1829, Knowle, Warwickshire are the parents of John W Whitehead, who with his wife, Elizabeth, are the parents of Howard William Whitehead.

I hope this helps to get you started.
