    Unhappy Graveyards and Epitaphs

What did you do on holiday in Devon? you may ask.
I trawled graveyards for epitaphs and ate my fish and chips on any available bench or tomb.
(Well actually I did do other things )

Some I found on Dartmoor you may like to read::

Farewell vain world I've seen enough of thee
And now I'm careless what thou think of me.
Thou smiles I care not for , thou frowns I do not fear
My cares are past my head lies quiet here.
What faults thou knowest of me I care to shun
And look at home thou will find enough to be done

this was by William Drew died 1845 aged 76 (See photo in gallery)

another with a skeleton on the headstone::.

I depart this world so trying and true
and all this pain I leave to you.

this was 1792 -but the rest Icould not decipher.

I have more if anyone is interested or maybe someone has more-.............sad ?
