Mystery as entire caravan 'flytipped' in Warwickshire
The static home was discovered in the region this week

An investigation is afoot after an entire caravan was discovered in an extreme case of 'flytipping' in Warwickshire. It is said to have happened last week in Hartshill.

An image of the incident was shared by North Warwickshire Borough Council on social media, with the caption urging anyone with information to get in touch. The council is interested in potential dashcam footage and any intel that could lead to finding out who is responsible.

The post was subsequently shared by Atherstone and Coleshill Police. The image shared shows the sizeable van dumped at the side of a country road. The doors look to be damaged or removed and the windows are smashed.

    Now removed...

A static caravan which was dumped in Woodford Lane, Hartshill, has now been removed by the Council.

A static caravan which was dumped in Woodford Lane, Hartshill, has now been removed by the Council. The Caravan, which was abandoned sometime in the early hours of Thursday, 24th April 2025, has been an ongoing cause for concern for local residents.

An investigation is afoot after the entire caravan was discovered in an extreme case of 'flytipping'. The incident occurred last month in Hartshill.

Councillor Margaret Bell, Chair of Community & Environment Board, said: “This case has been an eyesore and a blot on the landscape. It’s disappointing that somebody felt the need to dump a caravan of this size in North Warwickshire, and this incident alone has cost the Council £1,500 to remove. Tackling this issue takes up time and resources that could be better spent on essential public services. Needless to say, I’m pleased that the caravan has now finally been removed.”

Cleaning up major fly-tipping cases costs the Council in excess of £200,000 per annum. Fly-tipping is a criminal offence, which carries a fine of up to £50,000 (unlimited if dealt with at Crown Court) or an offender may face a prison sentence.

It is also an offence to allow fly-tipping. Householders have a Duty of Care to take reasonable measures to make sure their waste is disposed of correctly. Failure to do so could lead to a fine of up to £5,000.

To report fly tipping, please visit North Warwickshire Borough Council’s website, where you can send information such as photos and footage of the fly tip. You can also find instructions on what to do when you discover fly-tipped waste.
