Hard truths have to be faced up to at the Loft Theatre in Leamington

SOME hard truths will have to be faced up to at the Loft Theatre in Leamington.

Things I Know To Be True, by award-winning Australian writer Andrew Bovell – who also co-wrote the screenplay for the hugely popular 1992 film Strictly Ballroom – runs in the main auditorium from Wednesday May 7 to Saturday May 17.

The production, directed by Lynda Lewis, is an intimate and unflinching examination of family dynamics which will be relatable to many people. Bob and Fran Price love their four adult children deeply and have made many sacrifices and compromises for their benefit.

They are certain they know what is best for the family unit and for each member of it – as Bob says: “I thought they’d be like us. But better than us. Better versions of us. Better educated. With better jobs. And better prospects. That’s what we worked so hard for. Wasn’t it?”

Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.

Thanks for the heads up Rebbonk.. We have been to the Loft Theatre a few of times and the acting company were excellent we very much enjoyed it. But haven/t been for a while since the Covid scare when everything shut down... I know we have missed some good productions gone by, but will seriously be looking at attending a play again.

PS. The Acting Company at the Theatre were so impressive , that we thought they were every bit as good as we used to have at the Shakespeare Theatre.. But nowadays at Shakespeare theatre I looks a bit dire. I don't like the modern way they produce the plays.
