A collection of rare memorabilia belonging to Dambusters hero Guy Gibson, including the military wings from his RAF uniform, has been discovered and is expected to fetch a hefty sum at auction. The items, which were unearthed following the death of their owner, could sell for as much as £10,000.
The collection was amassed by former Coventry Evening Telegraph photographer Derrick Warren. He was fascinated by the Dambusters operation and it's leader Gibson.
Derrick died in 2022 aged 81. Among the collection are a pair of cloth military wings originally given to Gibson's cousin, his flight logbook, and a childhood letter addressed ‘To Granny’.
