    I wonder when this happens , will we still get nuisance and scam calls?

    I can see a lot of delays with this - BT only has so many engineers, and there's 25-odd million homes in the UK.

    The thing is also, I don't like leaving my router on all through the night if the phone has to be plugged into the router. I always switch my router off , before retiring to bed.

    It's a retrograde step. Currently, if we have power cuts the phone system still works (as long as you have the right type of phone). With this system, once the power goes off, your phone (and the ability to contact emergency services) stops.
    Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.
