    Default Train Drivers Strike

I really feel for the train drivers not getting an inflation-matching pay rise; it's impossible to get by on £80,000 a year: https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/ne...-line-24792226

To be fair, the vast majority of RMT employees will be making much less than that.

The strike seems to have 'evolved' and I'm no longer quite sure what it's about.

I strongly suspect we are heading into a 'winter of discontent' as we saw in the late 70s and I'm not sure how either of the muppets vying for the vacancy in N.10 would handle things.

Time to batten down the hatches!
Of course it'll fit, you just need a bigger hammer.

A couple of days on strike (lost salary covered by the union), and a couple of days paid holiday - take the family away for a long weekend over half term (by car): https://stratfordobserver.co.uk/news...-june-3-44938/

I've never approved of strikes, as you rarely ever recover the money that you lose. I think that the rail workers might have misjudged this one. From what I had seen up to now they largely had the tacit support of the public. This recent strike (FA cup final weekend!) seems to have turned that support.

A new lot of strikes starting 8th April. With Easter, that's 2 long weekends in a row: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-68617288
