    Default Pagan Festival

I have the feeling that modern paganism & wicca just sprouted from the New Age fad in the 1990s. From the reading I've done, ancient paganism was basically a rural religion about working with & respecting nature. 'Witches' were basically just women who knew about herbalism and healing.

I have never really taken much notice of this trend, Lex.
If its the case of caring for nature and studying herbal treatments. then that's good, But why do they have to refer to themselves as witches. I would rather have someone a bit knowledgeable and have done extensive research about herbs treatments, some of them can have some adverse effects. I'm not keen on faddy stuff.

Proper pagan religion (ie pre-Christian) seems to have a lot in common with the Shinto religion in Japan - spirits representing local features, nature & natural forces, even ancestors & important people.

Maybe these pseudo-hippies could do a bit of reading up......
