Just managed to save a huge fur coated Zeppelin from one dog. Caught it in the kitchen in my fish pond net and let it go free. Phew.

Apart from seeing a few 'zeppelins' earlier this year, and a couple of bees hovering around what I suspect to be the entrance to a hive near where I work, I haven't seen any bees at all this year, so this is a good thing in my books: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/new...lworth-9454449

I've been inundated with emails requesting my signature on various petitions demanding that government stop various corporates from damaging our bee population.

I don't think I've seen a bee this year. Actually, I've not seen many wasps either.

Do you grown plants that encourage the bees?
Our garden is buzzing with bees, I have to be careful when I get near one particular tree, or its what is left of an old fruit tree, it has some kind of small blossom, but I don't know what it is called, the bees buzz round it all day.
I also took a picture of a bee on my pansies.

I've got a honeysuckle in the back garden which is just starting to flower. I also planted a couple of lavender plants a few years ago, but all they attracted was rabbits!

Another threat to our bee population. Now that the Asian Hornet is here, it'll probably be here for good: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-37421846

Watched that report on TV tonight. It doesn't look good.
