Warwickshire Police sergeant suspended as force investigates rape allegation
A WARWICKSHIRE Police officer who was arrested on suspicion of rape has now been suspended from duty, the force confirmed today (Monday).
The police sergeant was arrested on Tuesday, 22nd July, after the incident was reported and an investigation launched on Sunday, 20th July.
The officer has been released on bail, with appropriate conditions, while enquiries continue, Warwickshire Police said in a statement.
The statement added: “The suspension status of any officer under investigation remains under continuous review and the sergeant has now been suspended.
“As a force, we expect the highest standards from all our officers, staff and volunteers and where there are concerns or allegations these aren’t being met, our Professional Standards Department will investigate thoroughly.
“We are committed to being open and transparent around such processes and will share more information when appropriate.”
Previously the sergeant had been moved to a non-public facing role.
