The ground moved just before 1.00 am this morning. I was still awake and sitting at the computer. Initially it felt like a heavy truck rolling by then it got really strong and the flat shook, everything rattled.
Coming from NZ which which is on several fault lines I am more accustomed to shaking and rattling, in fact, I remember one earthquake that as it rolled through the local golf course the ground turned into undulating waves. Having said that it took me by surprise in the UK and I found it rather disconcerting. Did anyone else notice or were most of you deep in the arms of Morpheus?

Apparently earthquakes of this magnitude 5.3 - felt in England occurs roughly every 10-20 years. The last one on this scale was I think 1984 ?
I am gad there are no reported injuries, except one man who sustained leg injuries when a chimney fell on him. It must be a very frightening experience. Last edited by Mari : 27-02-2008 at 09:51 AM. |
