24 hour delay for city centre postal services following Coventry bomb scareMar 13 2008
By Warren Manger POSTAL services in the city centre have been delayed by 24 hours following yesterday's bomb scare. Royal Mail workers were evacuated from their building at around 2.45pm, following the discovery of the World War Two bomb at the Belgrade Theatre. As a result, postal collections from the CV1 to CV7 areas of Coventry were delayed until the early hours of this morning and anything posted yesterday - due to arrive today - will not arrive until tomorrow. Jane Thomas, a spokesperson for Royal Mail, said: "Obviously we would like to apologise to everyone in the area who has not received their mail, but unfortunately this was out of our control. "We did insist that the night shift workers arrived as normal and as soon as we were able to get back into the building, processing the mail continued through the night." |

A controlled explosion a few yards away in a hole covered with sandbags.
'They' say that if it had gone off where it was found it would have taken the whole new complex and surrounding buildings up with it. I wonder how many more are lurking in the city . |
