[my grandchildren live in a beautiful part of Oxfordshire with posh farms all around bird sanctuaries, even an alpaca farm. I took then to City Farm. You would have thought they had never seen an animal before....and right in the shadow of the high rise flats. They didn't want to come away.
Ok the money needed to keep it going would indeed take some kids to a real farm in the country, but this is quite a deprived area and people trapped in this area of flats and houses need some joy in their lives, and to pass by this place daily on the way to the shops , to hear the animal sounds ,, and to see them from the highrises , must compensate a little. We need to keep it going! |

Looks like they've managed to keep it going for another three months, doesn't say how they've managed it though.

They have????
Believe me, although I started this thread, I didn't know! After all, I moved away. The post about needing something like this in your life if you live among those high rise flats is absolutely true! |

Who, me, pop in often? Sorry but I find the computer can take me over for the whole day if I don't limit my time online and I never manage to do everything online. As for my involvement, I left Coventry almost 20 years ago, and I feel that the beautiful Welsh Marches, where I now live, are my true home where I propose to spend the rest of my life. Hence I think about Coventry occasionally.I started this thread because I used to work on the City Farm, so was concerned. I've just had my annual pilgrimage to Warwickshire, because I never miss the Royal Show! No, not even when it is as wet and muddy as the Glastonbury Festival! ![]() |

They still cancelled the last day due to the mud though! Apparently they didn't want to get sued

The border between Wales and England (actually Montgomeryshire and Shropshire). I've known the Marches by that name for years, ever since I used to travel from Coventry to walk Offa's Dyke, and fell in love with the area.
Now I live just a couple of miles from Offa's Dyke. I never knew I'd be that lucky!!! ![]() |
