Default Innheritance tax woes

I am currently dealing with inheritance tax for my grandfather (my grandmother passed away 10 years ago) years ago. I am disgusted that everything my grandfather worked for is pretty much up for grabs iwhen he dies! Basically, we would have to sell his house to pay this ridiculous tax!

Can someone please tell me how this is justified when my grandfather paid about 70% tax during the 70's and then 40% after that, not forgetting council tax, VAT etc, etc.

I am bemused and thoroughly offended.

Any comments from anyone else?

I think if the property title deeds are given to you 7 years before your relations pass away, then you don't have to pay the tax. So maybe that is something you should consider.

On another note, this outdated and disgusting tax should be abolished anyway.

Default how to save lots of money..

go see a solicitor! the property can be put into a trust which is shared by its current occupants and those who will inherit. this breaks down the value of the property, with any luck, bringing you below inheritance threshholds. it is an iniquitous tax, but any good solicitor should steer you round paying it...
