Thought I'd throw in some more current affairs controversy.
![]() Is Ruth Kelly brave for putting her son before her own principles ? Is she not doing what any mother would do in her financial position ? Is she right or wrong ? In her position would she not be better off campaigning for more and better specialist schools ? Or is she just like all the rest of them...self seeking hypocrites? It is her own business, and if I had the money in the same position I would do it. But as her job is education for the rest of us, it is very hypocritical

In a way I agree with Ruth Kelly. I've known several people with special educational needs, and for the most part, they've been let down badly by the state school system.
Looking at the same point from a different angle, the reason these people have been let down is because giving these people the education they need it TOO MUCH BOTHER. Both Tory & Labour governments, LEAs, schools & even teachers cannot be bothered to give these kids the support they need. Tony Blair has even gone as far as closing down specialist schools for the poor sods (many dyslexics like Ms Kelly's son do get on well in main stream education, the specialist schools are aimed at more severe cases of disability); and Ruth Kelly did nothing to stop them being closed. ![]() |
