A new development seems to be announced at least once a month; how much student accommodation does Coventry need?

The proposal is totally unsuited to that area.

I spent many happy lunchtimes in that pub when I worked for Austin Rover. Such a shame it's gone the way of so many others.

There won't be any room left for locals soon: https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/work-start-huge-student-accommodation-15000820

There is a definite anti-student feeling running through Coventry at the moment, but it's actually the government to blame. Many other cities mirror Coventry's views.

No doubt the developer of this property in Kenilworth will resubmit the plans with an extra parking space included: https://www.leamingtoncourier.co.uk/news/plan-for-extra-student-rooms-in-old-indian-restaurant-in-kenilworth-rejected-1-8632342

More student flats are in the offing: https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/landmark-19-storey-student-accommodation-19603673

With online education gathering pace, this is ludicrous. There are already student flats in Coventry lying empty.

There must be a point where student accommodation reaches saturation point.

A rare decision against more student accommodation: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-66273997

A rare outbreak of common sense. - Don't expect more of this!

New flats going up. I'm sure the students will appreciate living on an industrial estate: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-66335968

Some flarts are to be let out to non-students. Oversupply in the market?

What's happening, Lex, is that the laws on building for students are being exploited. If we are changing occupancy rules, we have reached saturation, haven't we? Shouldn't we stop building?

That sums it up nicely.

The stupidity continues! A few are making lots of money from this.

Apparently, the number of students attending Coventry University are dropping; unless Warwick Uni's making the numbers up, these could be standing empty.

Many already are. They've been re-classified as suitable for young professionals. Feel free to draw your own conclusions!
